On August 4, 2015, Toronto radio station Jazz.FM91 kicked off its World Music Series at a local jazz club, Hugh’s Room. The series consists of five performances highlighting music from around the world with both international and local jazz artists. (click on any photo to see a larger version)
The first performance featured Etienne Charles from Trinidad and Tobago. He was backed up by an all-star band of local Toronto musicians: Robi Botos (piano), Otis Williams (drums), John Maharaj (bass), and Braxton Hicks (tenor saxophone).
At 8 p.m. Jazz.FM91 producer and host Jaymz Bee welcomed us and introduced Etienne.
Here are photos from the performance. Apologies to John and Otis for not being able to capture good images of them from where I was seated.

Additional countries in this series are Cuba, France and Iceland, and the finale has Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. For additional information and tickets check out this link at Jazz.FM91:
